Fauziah Ibrahim is a journalist with ABC News Channel and the host of Sunday Extra on Radio National.
She started her broadcasting career as an intern at the ABC’s Perth newsrooms and went on to host a breakfast show on country radio.
Fauziah then moved back to her home country Singapore to present a prime-time current affairs morning NewsRadio covering domestic and international issues. From there she was headhunted by BBC World as a producer of the broadcaster’s flag-ship regional show, the Asia Business Report.
Fauziah was again headhunted to move on to CNBC covering global political and financial issues. Her next move was to Al Jazeera English where she presented and produced long-form documentaries and moderated live panel discussions covering the Asia-Pacific. Fauziah then moved to the headquarters in Doha to present prime time international news, before moving back to Australia.
Throughout her two-decade career as a journalist Fauziah has interviewed various heads of state including Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapakse, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak, Nobel Laureates Jose Ramos Horta and the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso. She has also covered major international news including the 2004 Asian Tsunami, the 2014 Gaza Conflict, the 2015 Paris terror attacks, and the ongoing war in Syria. Along the way she has picked up international awards for her reportage and documentaries.
